Do I need to send back accessories with my trade-in?
Updated
In most cases, no, you only need to send the device you’re trading in.
There are 2 exceptions where a missing item reduces your trade-in credit or results in a fee:
Wireless headphones, which must include their charging case and cables
Any device that shipped with an S Pen, must include the S Pen
Anything else you include with your trade-in device won’t be returned.
What to Include with Your Trade-In
Trade-in device | What must be included |
Wireless headphones or earbuds | The device, with all charging cases and cables |
A device that came with an S Pen | The device, with the original and fully functional S Pen |
All other devices | The device only |
What Not to Include with Your Trade-In
Don’t send any of the following items or accessories with your trade-in device. Samsung won’t return them (the Order Support team can’t get them back for you, either) and they add no trade-in value:
Chargers and charging cables (except for wireless headphones, as noted above)
Cases and covers
Keyboard covers
Watch straps and bands
SIM cards
Memory cards
Boxes, manuals, and other packaging
It’s especially important to remember to remove your SIM card and any memory cards before you ship your trade-in device. Because of their small size and placement inside a device, they can be easy to overlook when preparing to send a trade-in device. They can't be recovered once received by Samsung.
What If I Leave Something Out When Sending My Trade-In?
Leaving out an item that’s required usually won’t cause an outright rejection.
If wireless headphones or earbuds are missing their charging cases and cables, it’ll result in a reduced trade-in credit.
If a device that included an S Pen is missing that S Pen, it’ll result in a $30 chargeback to your original payment method.
For the conditions that cause an outright rejection of a trade-in device, see What is Samsung's trade-in program and what are the requirements?
