Why was my order cancelled?
Updated
When Samsung cancels an order, an email is sent to the address on the order that states the specific reason for the cancellation and the next step to take. Common reasons for a cancelled order are a billing address that doesn’t match the address on file with your bank or a payment that couldn’t be authorized.
Check Your Cancellation Email
Samsung sends a cancellation email to the email address used to place the order. That email includes:
The Order ID that was cancelled (it starts with “US” and is followed by a string of numbers)
The specific reason the order was cancelled
Whether the cancellation applies to the entire order or to individual items in the order
Any next steps you can take, like placing a new order or contacting your bank
If the cancellation email isn’t in your inbox, check your spam, junk, and promotions folders, and confirm that the email address on the order is spelled correctly.
The Order Support team won’t have any information different than what’s in the cancellation email.
Common Reasons an Order Is Cancelled
While you should refer to your cancellation email for your specific reason, here’s some of the common reasons an order may be cancelled.
Billing and address issues
The billing address doesn’t match the address on file with your card issuer. Banks decline transactions when the billing address entered at checkout doesn’t match their records. Contact your financial institution for help.
The billing address isn’t in the contiguous United States. See Billing Address Requirements below.
The shipping address couldn’t be verified or isn’t supported. This includes if it’s a P.O. box. Use a different address.
Payment issues
The payment method was declined or the authorization expired before the order was processed. Use a different payment method.
The card was reported lost, stolen, or expired. Use a different payment method.
A financing or installment application was not approved. Orders placed with Samsung Financing, Affirm, or Klarna are cancelled if the application is declined or isn’t completed.
The bank flagged the transaction. If the order wasn’t placed with Samsung Financing, Affirm, or Klarna, contact your financial institution about the transaction and whether or not they declined it before contacting Order Support.
Order and inventory issues
The item sold out or became unavailable before the order could be fulfilled.
A promotion, discount, or trade-in offer wasn’t valid for the order as placed.
Account and review issues
The order didn’t pass a standard security or fraud review.
Account information couldn’t be verified.
Billing Address Requirements
The billing address on a Samsung.com order must be located in the contiguous United States. Orders with a billing address outside the contiguous U.S. are canceled automatically, even when the payment method and shipping address are valid.
If your card is registered to an address outside the contiguous U.S., the order cannot be completed with that payment method. Use a payment method with a billing address inside the contiguous U.S., or update the billing address with your card issuer before placing a new order.
See How can I pay? for more details.
Was I Charged for a Cancelled Order?
No. A cancelled order is not charged. If you see a pending amount on your statement, it’s likely an authorization hold placed when the order was submitted. Authorization holds are released by your bank, typically within 3–5 business days (though some issuers take longer). Your bank, not Samsung, controls how quickly the hold is released.
If a completed charge appears for a canceled order after 7 business days, contact Order Support with your Order ID for assistance.
Can a Cancelled Order Be Uncancelled or Restored?
No. A cancelled order can’t be uncancelled, reinstated, restored, or resumed. You have to place a new order. Pricing, promotions, and availability that applied to the canceled order may no longer be available on the new order, but you may be eligible for a price match.
Before placing the new order:
Confirm the billing address matches your card issuer's records exactly, including apartment or unit number.
Confirm the billing address is in the contiguous United States.
Confirm the payment method is active and has enough available credit or funds.
If the previous order was declined by your financial institution, contact them first so the new attempt isn’t declined again.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why was my order cancelled without any explanation?
Every cancellation includes a reason, which is sent in the cancellation email to the address on the order. If you didn’t get this email, check your spam and promotions folders, then verify the email address used at checkout.
My order was cancelled but the money left my account. What happened?
That amount is almost always a pending authorization hold rather than a charge. Holds are released by your bank, usually within 3–5 business days. Contact Order Support if a completed charge remains after 7 business days. You’ll need your Order ID.
Can Samsung Order Support uncancel my order?
No. Cancelled orders cannot be restored. Place a new order after correcting the issue listed in your cancellation email.
My order used Samsung Financing, Affirm, or Klarna and was canceled. What should I do?
Check the cancellation email and any message from the financing provider. If the application was declined, the provider is the only one who can explain the decision. For orders that didn’t use financing, contact your bank about the transaction first.
