What happens if my order has bundle discounts or free items?
Updated
Any promotional benefits received from an order with multiple items, including bundle pricing and free items, are dependent on the entire order and may change if you return part of it. If you keep part of a bundled order and return the rest, the bundle benefits no longer apply and any refund is adjusted accordingly.
That means a partial return will likely refund less than the original price of the items you’re returning.
What Counts as a Bundle Order?
An order is considered “bundled” if the pricing of one or more items in the order is dependent on one or more other items in the order.
Examples:
Spend $2,000 or more on home appliances in the same order and receive a $200 discount.
Buy a Galaxy smartphone and receive a 30% discount on the latest Buds.
Why Returning One Item Changes the Price of the Others
A bundle discount isn’t attached to a single product. It’s applied to your entire order because it meets the requirements for the bundle discount, and is then spread across any eligible items.
If you remove an eligible item from your order (by returning it), the requirements of the bundle discount may no longer be met. If that happens, Samsung then prices the items you kept as if you had bought them on their own, and refunds the difference between that recalculated total (without the bundle discount) and what you originally paid (with the bundle discount).
The end result is you are refunded the net amount attributable to the returned item, and the benefits tied to the bundle are lost.
How a Refund Is Calculated
Action | Bundle discount | Free item | Effect on refund |
Return every item in the bundle | N/A (entire order is returned) | Must be returned with everything else | Full refund of what you paid, less any restocking fee or other non-refundable fees |
Return the primary item, keep the free item | Removed | Kept | Reduced by the full stated value of the free item |
Return the primary item and the free item | Removed | Returned | Matches what you paid for the primary item, less any restocking fee |
Return the accompanying item, keep the primary item | Forfeited on the items you keep | Kept | Refund covers the net price of the returned item only; discounts on retained items are removed |
Cancel before anything ships | N/A (order cancelled) | N/A (order cancelled) | Full refund of what you paid |
Keep these things in mind, too:
Refunds are based on the amount you paid, not the list price. A returned tablet with a list price of $999 that was billed at $799 due to a bundle promotion will refund you $799.
Restocking fees apply on top of this. Bundle adjustments and restocking fees are separate deductions, and both can apply to the same return. Restocking fees are calculated from the net product price. On a bundled order, that means the fee is determined by the discounted price, not the list price. See Do you have a restocking fee? for more information.
Shipping, installation, and other service fees are non-refundable, whether the order has a bundle or not. See What is Samsung's return policy? for more information.
Before Returning Part of a Bundle
Look up what each item actually cost, after discounts. Find the net price on your order confirmation; it will differ from the list price on the product page.
Find the stated value of any free item you plan to keep. That amount will be deducted from your refund.
Check each item's return deadline separately on the My Orders page.
Check whether a restocking fee applies to the item you're sending back.
When you’re ready, follow the standard process in How to request a return and print a label to get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I return only one item from a bundle?
Yes, as long as it’s within its return window and meets standard return conditions.
Will I get the full price back if I return the whole bundle?
Yes. You’ll be refunded what you paid, minus any applicable restocking fee. Shipping and installation charges are not refunded.
Why is my refund less than the price shown on my order?
The most common reasons on a bundled order are a forfeited bundle discount, a deduction for a free item you kept, or a restocking fee. More than one of these can apply to the same return.
What if I keep the free item?
Your refund is reduced by the full cost of that item.
Do I pay for return shipping on a bundle?
No. Return shipping is free. See Do I have to pay for return shipping if I want to return an item? for additional details.
My bundle items arrived on different days. When does my return window close?
Each item's return window begins 15 days from its delivery date. Check the exact deadline for each item on the My Orders page.
Does a restocking fee apply to the discounted price or the list price?
The discounted price. Restocking fees are calculated from the net product price you were charged.
The bundle item arrived damaged / defected. Does this still apply?
Damaged and defective items are handled under a different process. You need to report the damage or defect either within 5 days of delivery or 2 days of installation, whichever is later, and restocking fees are waived. See What is Samsung's return policy? for more information.
